Rebar Quantity Estimator

Enter the reinforcement shown on your plans: bar size, cut length and how many. Get the total length, stock bars to buy and approximate weight.

Stock bars

The length your supplier sells, e.g. 20 ft or 6 m. Bar sizes switch with the unit system.

Stock bar length

Cut schedule from your plans

One line per bar type. Each cut length should already include any lap or hook length your plans specify.

    How the quantities are calculated

    1. Required length = cut length × number of pieces, summed per bar size.
    2. Simple cutting: pieces per stock bar = whole pieces that fit; bars = pieces ÷ pieces per bar, rounded up, per line.
    3. Weight = required length × the published nominal unit weight for the bar size.

Example: 12 pieces of #4 at 10 ft and 5 pieces at 7 ft, from 20 ft stock, is 155 ft of bar. The theoretical minimum is 8 bars; simple cutting needs 9, leaving 25 ft of offcuts. At 0.668 lb/ft that's about 103.5 lb.

What you need from your plans

Bar size, number of bars or spacing, and the cut length of each bar, including laps, hooks and anchorage. If any of these aren't on your plans, ask your designer or engineer. This tool won't guess them.

This tool estimates quantities from the reinforcement your plans specify. It does not choose bar sizes, spacing, lap or anchorage lengths, or check structural capacity or code compliance. Those must come from your plans or engineer.
